Monday's headlines weren’t just about parades—they were about protests, politics, and a powerful clash over law and order. From California’s legal threats to the travel ban’s return, sparks flew on Monday Morning Quarterbacks as Olson Strategies' Dustin Olson tackled some of the most heated issues facing the country.

Olson joined FOX 5 DC’s Marissa Mitchell to break down the chaos unfolding in Los Angeles, the deployment of the National Guard, and the return of the travel ban.

“Fake Protest Season” and Real-World Fallout

Olson didn’t mince words when describing the unrest in Los Angeles, saying, “Well, it’s officially fake protest season, again.” As Olson laid out, these orchestrated fake protests—backed by left-wing billionaire donors—often spark dangerous consequences in the real world. Remember the Tesla dealership firebombings just a few months ago? It’s naive to think these sorts of things just happen organically.

“One of the problems with these left-wing funded fake protests is that they stoke real-world violence and chaos,” he said.

The National Guard’s deployment, Olson argued, clearly is a necessary correction to the failures of local leadership. He called out Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their inability or unwillingness to enforce the law, protect public safety, and back up law enforcement.

“This is a big problem the Democrats created that unfortunately requires big action to fix,” Olson said.

Immigration and the Return of the Travel Ban

The conversation shifted to the reimplementation of travel restrictions from countries known as sources for dangerous activity—this time affecting 12 countries, with additional visa restrictions hitting seven more.

The Democrat predictably called people with different views on this “Racists” and accused the Trump administration of prioritizing wealth and whiteness in its immigration preferences. Olson, in response, dismissed the name-calling and unhinged comments as disconnected from the real dangers facing American communities.

“We can go to my home state of Colorado and see the consequences of these failed immigration policies,” Olson said, referring to the horrific antisemitic firebombing by an illegal immigrant of people rallying in support of releasing prisoners held by Hamas. “Foreign terrorists entering our country—that has real-world consequences.”

    VIOLENCE ISN’T THE WAY FORWARD

Olson criticized the Democrat leadership for being obsessed with opposing common sense and stoking chaos, rather than pursuing actionable policy.

“Tim Walz—who’s been the gift that keeps on giving—suggested Democrats be a little bit more fierce, ” Olson said. “I don't know what’s more fierce than staging fake protests like this that turn into real riots, or fire bombing Tesla dealerships, or going after your political opponents and trying to jail them, on and on and on.”

    The Stakes Heading Into 2026

With immigration, public safety, and law enforcement shaping into cornerstone issues ahead of the 2026 midterms, this clash reflects deeper political strategies already in motion. Olson’s remarks signal a Republican message centered on decisive leadership, common sense, and standing up for the American people. That stands in stark contrast to the Democrat vision.

Urging Democrats to step away from stoking unrest and return to substance, Olson said.“I think what the Democrat Party should be focused on—as opposed to these kinds of activities—would be to pick issues that more than 20% of Americans agree with, and actually come up with policies that help real-world Americans.”
