Dustin Olson, Managing Partner at Olson Strategies, joined Wake Up America on NEWSMAX to discuss affordability and the economy, more specifically, some interesting polling insights others aren't talking about from the December Harvard-Harris poll. He also covered Rep. Jasmine Crockett running for U.S. Senate.
Olson was first asked about the economy, and he noted that Republicans need to make this the number one issue going into the midterms. He referenced polling from Harvard-Harris’ December poll released recently.
“It's interesting when we look at the polling. Really, in the last month or so, we saw after the shutdown that most numbers tanked. People were not happy with either side. But since then, the new December Harvard-Harris poll came out just yesterday, and most of the numbers have snapped back. Job approval on the economy for the president has jumped four points. His job approval overall has jumped three points. Right track/Wrong track is all moving in the right direction. But one of the things I thought was most interesting that I found from the survey is that most Americans believe that inflation is well over 3% and we all know that with Donald Trump as president, it's been under 3% the entire time.”
They then moved on to Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s recent decision to run for a U.S. Senate seat. This comes following the Texas filing deadline earlier in the week—now that she’s out of a House seat following the new Texas Congressional maps, she’s decided to look to the Senate instead.
“She doesn't have a shot at the big game, but she will have a shot at winning the primary, and I think we can all look forward to that. I’m not sure if she's the brightest member of Congress, however, she does know one big thing—that you have to get attention in order to persuade people. We're going to see her saying lots of crazy stuff to get a lot of attention, and it's going to be a good show.”
