Dustin Olson, Managing Partner at Olson Strategies, joined NEWSMAX's Newswire to analyze three major stories making headlines this week: the billion-dollar fraud scandal on Tim Walz’s watch in Minnesota, new polling showing voters remain solidly for immigration enforcement, and Jasmine Crockett admitting she knowingly “insinuated” a false Epstein link about Lee Zeldin.
Olson first addressed the billion-dollar fraud ring that has now exploded into view in Minnesota. Whistleblowers say they warned Gov. Tim Walz long ago, and that he slowed audits, sidelined investigators, and retaliated against those who tried to stop it. The alleged scheme involved Somali immigrants operating within Minnesota’s social-service network.
“Every dollar that is taken in fraud is taken from people who actually need support and help. So this idea of being compassionate if you're a Democrat, but you support these fraudulent programs, you're actually hurting your fellow Americans. There's a reason why, in polling continuously over the last year, even as we have seen these ICE raids and efforts to actually follow the law on immigration by the Trump administration, the majority of Americans still want to see these immigration laws enforced.”
Olson linked the scandal to a broader pattern of failures stemming from lax vetting and open-border policies, noting that these issues compound and fuel public frustration.
Despite nonstop and inflammatory media coverage, public opinion on immigration has been remarkably stable. Olson cited new Harvard-Harris polling showing that Americans continue to strongly support immigration enforcement.
“54% still say that they want to have all those who are here illegally removed from the country. And that jumps to 79% if the folks have committed another crime while they're here… People are fed up, and so they are willing to go to extreme lengths to be able to get our immigration back in control. That's why you see things like this happening, it's just because people are fed up with a broken system that's been broken way too long.”
The cheeky promotion from Idaho’s Old State Saloon offering a free month of beer to anyone who helps identify illegal immigrants grabbed national attention, but Olson emphasized that it reflects a deeper national frustration with the open border policies of the Biden Administration and the crisis it created, which is mirrored in the systemic failures and fraud now visible in Minnesota.
Olson then discussed Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who openly acknowledged that she knowingly “insinuated”—what others would call misled—that Trump Administration official Lee Zeldin took money from “A” Jeffrey Epstein, which, given her use of “A” rather than “THE” Jeffrey Epstein is a pretty good indication she knew it was an entirely different person. Olson noted that the non-famous Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, the individual she invoked, has now donated to her out of frustration.
“I can just say here that “A” Jeffrey Epstein did give her money as well, because he came out and said so—that same doctor has now donated to her. It's very obvious that she knows exactly what she was doing. She was being too cute by half and trying to insinuate that Lee Zeldin had received money from the infamous Epstein that we all talk about. And when [the donation] happened, it was after Epstein—the Epstein we all talk about—was already dead.”
The bigger story here is that, since Justice Alito has allowed the Texas redistricting map to go forward, Crockett will likely be out of a job in the House. So, she is running for the U.S. Senate, and you can expect her to court more controversy, to get more attention, and to get herself closer to winning the Democratic nomination for Senate.
