Following a high-stakes weekend of strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Olson Strategies’ Dustin Olson joined Salem News Channel’s WILKOW! to break down the results of the new American Pulse survey and what it says about Iran, Trump, and national security moving forward.

    Near-Consensus: No Nukes for Iran

On the question of a nuclear-armed Iran, the polling is clear. 71% of Americans say Iran cannot get a nuclear weapon—a striking level of agreement in today’s polarized climate.

“Now you think it'd be 99% but in this country at this point, that is about the closest thing to consensus that you could possibly get,” Olson said.

    Trump’s Strikes Get Majority Support

With the strikes drawing global headlines, public opinion appears to be on the former president’s side—56% of Americans approve of his approach to the situation, and 54% approve of the strikes themselves.

“I think it's because they see him trying to pursue diplomatic efforts as well as showing force,” Olson explained.

The data also shows a meaningful shift in how voters see Trump personally: “51% say that they have a more favorable view of him from this—the last couple weeks.”

Overall job approval in the latest poll? “50%... so I think it's actually been pretty successful for him.”

Border Security Tied to Global Threats

Olson pointed out that while much of the conversation is focused overseas, concerns at home remain top of mind—especially the border.

“We asked a question about the border and possible Iranian sleeper cells. 61% of Americans believe that, because of the vulnerabilities of the last four years, that the America is in danger because of that broken border.”

    Clarity in Crisis

Despite the typical voter not being deeply engaged in foreign policy, Olson argued that certain threats—like a nuclear Iran—cut through the noise.

“The American people might be ignorant about certain topics... but they're generally pretty smart. And when you present them with information… they usually can figure things out. And I think they have on this issue.”
